At Mascari Warner Architects, we understand that for a business to truly be innovative and responsive to the clients’ needs, there must be a shift from simply producing a service to creating an environment, evoking a feeling, and inspiring those who interact with it. From healthcare to commercial, offices to residential, we beautifully combine function with form from the inside out.

Scripps Memorial Hospital – Emergency Department Observation Suite

Overview

The 12-bed Observation Unit is a 6,000 square foot shell space renovation within the newly constructed Critical Care Building at Scripps Encinitas. The unit was designed with private treatment rooms to provide “flex space” for the new Emergency Department.

Natural light was brought into the rooms by use of clerestory windows to help promote patient wellness and staff morale. Current nursing trends helped guide the design and layout of staff support areas consisting of two nurse stations and four decentralized nurse charting spaces which provide for direct visual supervision of the patients.
