The Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Neuroscience project is a world-class center for advanced neurological care, comprehensive spinal treatment, and complex stroke services. Dedicated to advanced brain and spine care, skilled neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialized clinicians are equipped to treat patients with disorders such as Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s disease using the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies.
The two-story facility comprises 57,000 square feet of renovated and newly constructed healthcare space, including 50 patient beds: 18 physical rehabilitation beds, 16 medical-surgical beds, and 16 ICU beds—six located within the renovated existing building and ten within the new two-level, ground-up I-2 occupancy. The project also includes a comprehensive upgrade to the physical therapy department, featuring a therapy gym and occupational therapy spaces, as well as the addition of a new outpatient neurology clinic on Level 2. Clinical support and administrative spaces are also incorporated.
The project introduces a new aesthetic for the hospital campus while remaining harmonious with the existing facility through the use of materials such as metal panels, white stucco, and glazing. The main entry is enhanced by a curved, two-story glass lobby that improves wayfinding and provides generous interior space for visitors and families, along with a welcoming main reception area. This project exemplifies a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to a phased renovation and expansion within the active Sharp Grossmont Medical Campus.
