At Mascari Warner Architects, we understand that for a business to truly be innovative and responsive to the clients’ needs, there must be a shift from simply producing a service to creating an environment, evoking a feeling, and inspiring those who interact with it. From healthcare to commercial, offices to residential, we beautifully combine function with form from the inside out.

El Centro Regional Medical Center – Patient Tower Addition

Overview

El Centro Regional Medical Center is in the early stages of a major upgrade. This upgrade will provide the rural community of El Centro and its close neighbors more accessible healthcare right in the neighborhood.

The upgrade includes 130,000 square feet of new acute care hospital space, 40,000 square feet of new “B” occupancy space, and 20,000 square feet of remodeled acute hospital space. This project will more than double the size of the existing hospital.

To help minimize construction costs, careful consideration and plans are being made, where functionally feasible, to move program elements not required in the “I” occupancy hospital into “B” occupancy areas. Doing so frees the space from costly OSHPD requirements, lessening approval time as well as allowing the overall project to be built at a lower cost per square foot.

The design and planning of the major hospital expansion are based on Lean principles, ultimately reducing waste and adding value to patient and staff experiences.
